Mariners are advised that the jack up vessel MPI Resolution will be carrying out maintenance operations within the North Hoyle and Rhyl Flats Wind Farms off the North Wales coast during May 2024. Notices to Mariners about these operations have been summarised below and can be downloaded for North Hoyle here and Rhyl Flats here.
Maintenance operations
The jack up vessel MPI Resolution is due to be carrying out heavy lifting operations at two turbines, one in the North Hoyle windfarm and one in Rhyl Flats. Locations and coordinates are given below:-
- North Hoyle – NH21: 53° 25.300’N 003° 28.550’W
- Rhyl Flats – RF11: 53° 23.058’N 003° 19.8911’W
The start date for this work is expected to be the 7th of May 2024 with an expected duration of 14 days in North Hoyle and 2 days in Rhyl Flats. These dates are subject to weather and sea conditions.
Vessel details
MPI Resolution is a jack up vessel measuring 130m in length by 38m in width, with a blue hull and white superstructure. The vessel details and a link to its present location are given below:-

When at the specified locations the vessel will be restricted in the ability to manoeuvre and will exhibit signals in accordance with the UK Standard Marking Schedule for Offshore Installations.
Other vessels are asked to observe a 500m exclusion zone at all times and to gain permission from the vessel before approaching within the 500m zone.
The vessel will monitor VHF Channel 16 at all times.
