Mariners are advised that survey work is due to be carried out along the Western HVDC Link cable route in the North Channel and Irish Sea by the vessel Normand Pacific. The work is due to start in early September 2017 and to be completed later in the month. A Notice to Mariners detailing these operations is summarised below and can be downloaded here.
Survey Work
The vessel Normand Pacific will carry out a visual and instrumental ROV survey of several sections of the Western HVDC link cable route. The survey will cover the areas to the west of the Isle of Man where cable installation was recently completed, the area in the North Channel where rock placement works have been carried out, and the area to the south of the Isle of Man where additional works have recently been completed.

The vessel will be monitoring VHF Channel 16 throughout the operations.
The vessel involved in this work will be restricted in its ability to manoeuvre and other vessels are reminded to pass at a safe speed and distance. Fishing vessels are advised to remain a safe distance (approximately 1.5 nautical miles) from the area identified in the Notice to Mariners.
