This is an update for mariners about the maintenance operations being carried out by the jack up vessel MPI Resolution within the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm off the North Wales coast in early December 2025. A Notice to Mariners about these operations is summarised below and can be downloaded here.
Maintenance operations
The jack up vessel MPI Resolution is due to be carrying out heavy lifting operations at two wind turbine in the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Windfarm area.
The wind turbine locations where this work is being carried out are listed below.
- G11H: 53° 27.428’N 003° 33.892’W
- J14G: 53° 26.769’N 003° 31.935’W
Work is expected to start on the 1st of December 2025 and to take approximately four days, subject to weather and sea conditions.

This work is being carried out under Marine Licence number 11/52/ML/4.
Vessel details
MPI Resolution is a 6-legged jack up vessel measuring 130m in length by 38m in width, with a blue hull and white superstructure. The vessel details and a link to its present location are given below:-
- MPI Resolution: jack up vessel | Call sign PCJM
When at the specified location the vessel will be restricted in the ability to manoeuvre and will exhibit signals in accordance with the UK Standard Marking Schedule for Offshore Installations.
Other vessels are asked to observe a 500m exclusion zone at all times that MPI Resolution is manoeuvering into position and when it is attached or anchored next to the wind turbine, and also to ensure that the vessel can safely position itself without negative interactions with sea users or their equipment.
The vessel will monitor VHF Channel 16 at all times.

Mariners are advised that the following Notices to Mariners have been issued for the Gwynt y Môr windfarm and export cable and remain current:-
- Gwynt y Môr offshore windfarm: risk of cable exposure – this notice was issued in September 2021. It advises mariners that there are areas where cables may be exposed within the windfarm array, and that these areas are subject to change in response to tidal and weather effects on the seabed. The information in this notice, as well as links to advice on fishing near cables and renewable energy structures and links to the cable array map for the windfarm can be accessed here.
All other Notices to Mariners have been withdrawn.
