Rhyl Flats Offshore Windfarm: Temporary Fog-Horn Deactivation, June 2025

Mariners are advised that the fog horns for six of the turbines within the Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of North Wales will be temporarily deactivated during June 2025 for maintenance operations.  A Notice to Mariners about these operations is summarised below and can be downloaded here.

Date and locations

During the period 16th of June – 27th of June 2025 the Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm will be de-energised.  Navigation lights on turbines will be replaced with self-contained lanterns that will have the same light characteristics.  However the fog horns will be out of services and will not sound.

The locations and coordinates of the fog-horn deactivations are given below:-

  • RF01: 53° 23.485’N 003° 39.180’W
  • RF07: 53° 22.903’N 003° 36.600’W
  • RF08: 53° 23.345’N 003° 41.164’W
  • RF18: 53° 22.388’N 003° 36.925’W
  • RF19: 53° 22.817’N 003° 41.433’W
  • RF27: 53° 22.123’N 003° 38.355’W

Mariners are requested to keep well clear of these locations and pass slowly, particularly during the hours of darkness.
