Gwynt y Môr Windfarm: work due to start on offshore substations

The installation of the offshore substation jackets for the Gwynt y Môr windfarm is scheduled to start on the 11th April.  This work will be carried out by the heavy lifting vessel Stanislaw Yudin.  Details about this vessel and the support vessels that will be working with her are given in the notice to mariners (here).

Please note that the vessel will start work on the eastern platform location, and then continue on to work the western platform.  The work is anticipated to be complete by 31st May 2012.

The vessel will be secured by 8 anchors.  These could extend up to 1,200m from the vessel.  All vessels are required to give the Stanislaw Yudin and supporting vessels a wide berth.

A map showing the location of the substations can be downloaded here.
