Gwynt y Môr: Notice to Mariners – Disposal of Unexploded Ordnance

Three unexploded devices were discovered in the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm recently.  They will soon be disposed of using controlled explosions.  Further details are given in the Notice to Mariners here which is summarised below.

Disposal of UXO objects

RWE Innogy has been granted a licence to safely dispose of the UXO objects using controlled explosions.  This work will be carried out by the multi-cat vessel Suffolk Spirit.

There is a 1000m safety exclusion zone in place from 0001h on Tuesday 18th March 2014 until further notice centred on the following position:-

Lat 53° 26.316′ N
Long 003° 37.537′ W

The vessel Suffolk Spirit will monitor VHF Channel 16 at all times.
